Disconnected negative battery cable to turn off alarm. 1 suggestion was to discontect positive cable let it sit for for atleast 30 minutes reconnect cable turn key to start and back to off 3 times and on the 4th time turn car over and start it. If you were stuck in 4th gear full time (even from a stop, which makes it feel really sluggish), then it is likely an electrical problem (wiring or a bad sensor).
